Rear Window

It is the story of a recuperating news photographer who believes he has witnessed a murder. Confined to a wheelchair after an accident, he spends his time watching the occupants of neighbouring apartments through a telephoto lens and binoculars and becomes convinced that a murder has taken place.

The film 'Rear Window' is a mystery thriller film that shows what it's like to be confined in a home. The main character ends up watching people out of his window as he has to stay inside after an accident has left him in a wheelchair. The fact that his is trapped in a wheelchair also represents the fact that he is trapped in his won point of view. This film shows what it is like to have restrictions and a lack of freedom. In the film one character states ' what people ought to do is get outside their own house and look in for a change'. This quote contrasts with the concept of the film as the man cannot leave his house. The man character uses a camera with a high zoom lens to spy on other people. There are scenes in the film which create suspense to show that there is dangerous situations happening. I watched this film to get inspiration for my video as we are currently under a lot of restrictions, so we have to film a lot at home. This film shows what confinement and restrictions does to a person mentally as well as portraying the lack of freedom.
